Cleavers

Gentle Spring Botanical Infusion

Sometimes the plants that cling are the ones that teach us how to let go.

Cleavers (Galium aparine) is a familiar wild herb known for its long, climbing stems that seem to grab onto everything they touch.

Traditionally associated with springtime herbalism, cleansing traditions, lymphatic support, and healthy fluid balance, Cleavers makes a light, earthy botanical addition to the herbal cabinet.

A weed to some. A botanical ally to others.

Energetic Associations

Cleansing • Flow • Release • Renewal • Adaptability • Lightness

Cleavers carries an interesting contradiction—it clings, yet energetically it speaks to movement and release.

It reminds us to notice what we're holding onto and make room for what needs to move.

About Cleavers

Cleavers is an annual herb recognized by its sprawling stems, narrow leaves arranged in whorls, tiny flowers, and little hooked hairs that allow the plant to cling to clothing, animals, and neighboring plants.

Its persistent, wandering growth has earned it plenty of folk names, including stickyweed, bedstraw, and catchweed.

Cleavers has a long history within European folk herbalism, particularly in seasonal spring preparations.

Brewing Ritual

Use 1–2 teaspoons per 8–12 oz of freshly boiled water.

Cover and steep for 5–10 minutes.

Strain well and enjoy warm or iced.

Ways to Enjoy

Enjoy Cleavers on its own or blend with:

Nettle • Dandelion Leaf • Red Clover • Lemon Balm

Its light herbal character makes it especially suited to simple spring-inspired botanical blends.

Ritual Suggestion

As your Cleavers steeps, consider what you're holding onto simply because it has become familiar.

I release.
I renew.
I allow flow.
I make room for what comes next.

Let go without losing your roots.
